Tempo & Treaty
United Pathway
A development partnership connecting Tempo’s local coaching centres with opportunities to progress into Treaty United academy football. Player development comes first, with education, character and enjoyment at every stage.

From local development to the next challenge
The Tempo and Treaty United partnership gives families a clearer route through player development in the region. Young players can build their skills at a local Tempo centre, progress into a suitable squad environment and be considered for further opportunities as their football develops.
Tempo’s pre-academy programme serves players aged 8–13. Treaty United’s academy pathway begins at U13. Progression depends on a player’s development, the requirements of the next stage and the club’s selection decisions. Joining Tempo does not guarantee a Treaty United place or a professional contract.
The shared purpose is to help young people train with intent, make better decisions on the pitch and grow as teammates. Our approach values long-term progress, education, respect and positive habits alongside football performance.
How the pathway works
-
Local Development centres
Players begin with age-appropriate coaching, technical practice and games. The focus is on learning, confidence, enjoyment and a strong foundation. The first session is an assessment so coaches can understand the player’s current needs.
-
Regional squad opportunities
Selected players from across the centres come together for a further training and games challenge. Coaches consider readiness, attitude and performance when recommending a squad. Opportunities are based on development, rather than an automatic progression by age.
-
Treaty United academy
Players who are ready for the next level may be considered for Treaty academy opportunities from U13. Treaty United confirms its own squad selection, eligibility requirements and next steps. Tempo supports preparation and communication with families.
-
Football and education
The wider pathway includes Tempo’s Transition Year football and education programme and opportunities through later academy stages. The partnership handbook also identifies the ETB Performance Programme, Treaty U17 and U20 stages, and senior football as possible later steps.
Coaching, reviews & feedback
Players work on technical, tactical, physical and personal development. Individual development plans, coach feedback and player reviews help turn training into clear objectives.
Review conversations consider what is improving, what needs more attention and which environment best supports the next stage. Development is rarely a straight line; the right challenge matters more than moving up quickly.
Standards on and off the pitch
Players are expected to attend consistently, arrive ready to train, respect others and stay open to coaching. Families support the process by communicating through the programme’s agreed channels and allowing coaches to lead the sessions.
The aim is to build better players and better people, with high standards that are appropriate to each child’s age and stage.
Our Treaty pathway centres
The regional partnership connects TUS Limerick, Nenagh, Ennis and Adare. Visit your centre page for current training information and contact the team before attending.
Tempo also operates in Cork and Kerry. Players there should speak with their coach about the development opportunities relevant to their location and squad.
Questions from parents
How do we start?
Register for an assessment and select your centre. Assessments normally take place in the third week of the month. Wait for your confirmed invitation, then attend the session and receive feedback on the appropriate next step.
Can girls join the development programme?
Tempo’s development programme welcomes boys and girls. Contact the team with your child’s age and location so we can confirm the available squad and the relevant development opportunities.
Does a Regional place guarantee an international tour?
Tour places depend on the squad, age group, invitation, availability and event requirements. Tours are optional and charged separately. View the regional squad tour programme.
